1.Embrace of the future


Description: The Twin Tower also known as the Petronas Towers or just Twin Towers, in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004.

Explication: The PETRONAS Twin Towers is a modern-day architectural marvel. The floor plate of the Towers took into perspective geometric patterns common in Islamic architectural heritage. The PETRONAS Twin Towers is organized in horizontal ribbons of vision glass and stainless steel which glint and shimmer spectacularly in the sun. The structures of the Tower consist of a core and cylindrical tube frame system constructed entirely of cast-in situ high strength concrete. Core walls from the inner core while a circular cylindrical tube. Floor framing at Tower levels are concrete fill of conventional strength on steel floor decking supported by steel beams.

2. Freezing of the Past


Description: one of the buildings at central market

Explication: This building have a variety of facades of different styles which form a colorful edge to the
Streets. The rows of this building are very rich in contrasts. Heights, widths, forms and materials of the facades, the patterns and subdivision of windows are some of the different entities. The Windows of the French or Casement design. The front façade of this building present a distingue element. The Upper Floor projects over the five-footway to form a covered pedestrian arcade. The Columns at the front of the building that form the five-foot way colonnades and support the upper floors.

3.Transition between the Past and the Present

Explication: The floor-plate of the Tower is designed based on geometric patterns common in architecture of Islamic heritage. It is composed of two rotated and superimposed squares with small circular infill. These geometric figures have been described by architects as symbolizing unity, harmony, stability and rationality - all important principles of Islam. the Towers' entrance design was also inspired by the country's cultural heritage, incorporating contemporary Malaysian motifs adapted from traditional handicrafts such as songfest and timber carvings. The overall character of the building is high-tech and international but distinctively Malaysian.

4.Cultural Crossroads


Description: Sri Mahamariamman Temple is the oldest and richest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur. It is situated at edge of Chinatown in Jalan Banda

Explication: Sri Mahamariamman Temple is the oldest and richest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur. Built in the south Indian style, the temple most outstanding feature is the impressive 5-tieredtower. Since is multicultural. Now the temple is renovated. Inside the main building there was one large shrine painted a light green and flanked by two female statues. To the side were three shrines made of dark marble with brightly colored statues above each doorway. The entire temple has been repainted. Some part still under construction. We can notice the modern high decoration, the using of floor tile. We can also notice the presence of Doric columns. The roof in plaster.

5. Collapsing Identity


Description: The Bangkok Bank in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was opened for business since January 1959 and that’s just 2 years after Malaysia gained independence.

Explication: This building is collapsing of identity. It is a rejection of Malay vernacular architecture styles as source of architecture form; it adopted the Principe that the materials and functional requirements determine the result. It is just an adoption of machine aesthetic and rejection of ornament. To go forward it is just a simplification of form and elimination of necessaries detail of Malay vernacular .this building was design to reflect modern lifestyle. It is driving by technology and engineering in the term of material such as iron steel and glass. It is also emphasis of horizontal and vertical lines.
