1.Embrace of the future
KLCC towers are constructed largely of reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass facade designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia's Muslim religion. It has another Islamic influence on the design is that the cross section of the towers is based on a albeit with circular sectors added to meet office space requirements. KLCC used geometrical shape and several organic shapes as the design of the building. Besides its used a modern material that other new modern building used and it’s also still present as a modern building nowadays.
2. Freezing of the Past
Rodger street or known as Jalan Hang kasturi is a historical building that were built by British who were ruling Malaya at that time on 1909. The building is a Neo-classical structure. Some of the building uses a alternating roofline and window shapes link on two-storey building. The building was old but they still keep the design as the past historical building.
3.Transition between the Past and the Present
Central Market has created a corner to display multi-ethnicity and the stalls are zoned based on the features of each race. The new zone therefore would consist of 3 lanes namely the Lorong Melayu, Straits Chinese and Lorong India. The purpose of this new zone is to let the visitors have an insight of the cultural difference of the various races in Malaysia. A permanent structure was built to house all vendors. the permanent structure was further improvised to have the current facade which we can see today. The old at the same time the floor was laid with concrete tiles, the walls were clad with timber and the roof covered with zinc
4.Cultural Crossroads
Petaling Street or known as Chinatown among tourists is the centre of Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown. The street with a pre old shop house on the both side of the road. Chinese people are the majority that flooding the Petaling Street.
5. Collapsing Identity
The buildings were located nearby KLCC. It is such an elegant and beautiful building but it’s doesn’t show any cultural identity on it that we can identify it. The building is just a modern design of nowadays.
